Delaware State defeats Florida A&M 65-51

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Tahj Tate scored 19 points and Marques Oliver tallied a double-double to lead Delaware State over Florida A&M 65-51 on Monday night.

The Hornets (5-11, 2-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) held Florida A&M to just 32.7 percent shooting (18 of 55), and allowed only one player in double figures.

The Rattlers (5-16, 3-4) were also forced into 19 turnovers and limited to just eight assists.

Jay Threatt dished out nine of Delaware State’s 15 assists, while turning it over 10 times. Casey Walker added 14 points, Threatt finished with 11 and Oliver tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Hornets, who snapped an eight-game skid.

It was Delaware State’s fourth win in the teams’ last five meetings.

The Hornets outscored Florida A&M 38-28 in the second half, shooting 51.9 percent (14 of 27).

Drayton led the Rattlers with 12 points in 14 minutes off the bench.
