Georgia State clamps down on James Madison 74-58

ATLANTA (AP) — James Fields tied his career-high with 21 points and grabbed a career-best eight rebounds as Georgia State defeated James Madison 74-58 Monday night in a Colonial Athletic Association game.

Josh Micheaux added 15 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and six assists, for the Panthers (14-6, 6-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak and won their 10th straight home game. Eric Buckner added 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocks for the Panthers.

Ahead 43-38, the Panthers used an 18-3 run over the next 8:33 to lead 61-41 with 7:16 to play. The run included back-to-back baskets by James Vincent, who contributed eight points and three blocks off the bench.

Georgia State forced 21 turnovers by the Dukes (9-11, 2-7), blocked 11 shots and limited them to 34.5 percent shooting (20 of 58). Jihad Ali had five of the Panthers’ 14 steals.

Humpty Hitchens led James Madison with 15 points.
