FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he shuddered when he saw Tom Brady take a hard hit to his lower back on a 1-yard touchdown plunge in the AFC championship game.

Brady scored the go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter of New England’s 23-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

On Monday, Kraft said he even thought Brady’s back might have been broken on the hit by linebacker Ray Lewis. But the quarterback popped right up, spiked the ball and punched the air in celebration.

Patriots wide receiver Matthew Slater said Monday the hit wasn’t a dirty play. And several Patriots said the game was especially physical.

The victory sent the Patriots to the Super Bowl against the New York Giants on Feb. 5.
