SEATTLE (AP) — A 63-year-old felon accused of fatally shooting a fellow patron outside a West Seattle bar has been charged with first-degree murder.

The King County prosecutor’s office said Wednesday that bail for Lovett James Chambers has been set at $5 million. He is scheduled for arraignment Feb. 8.

Court papers say the two were patrons Saturday night at the Feedback Lounge. When 35-year-old Michael Hood left, prosecutors say Chambers followed him and approached him aggressively. Witnesses say Hood picked up a shovel to defend himself. Chambers is accused of shooting Hood four times in the chest. Hood later died of his injuries.

Witnesses wrote down Chambers’ license plate number.

Court papers say Chambers has prior convictions for kidnapping, rape and armed robbery.

Hood recently moved to Seattle from Florida.
