BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Jason Dawson scored a career-high 19 points as Gardner-Webb defeated Campbell 78-72 Thursday night, snapping the Camels’ four-game winning streak.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs (10-12, 5-5 Big South Conference), who had lost three in a row, ran off 10 consecutive points to take a 50-47 lead with 10:17 remaining.

Campbell (14-9, 8-3) rallied to tie the game three times, the last at 66-66 after a steal and layup by Darren White, but it never regained the lead.

A layup by Stefon Johnson gave the lead back to Gardner-Webb and Tashan Newsome added six points down the stretch to keep the Runnin’ Bulldogs in control.

Newsome finished with 15 points, Max Landis 13 and Johnson had 12 points and nine rebounds for Gardner-Webb.

White led Campbell with 22 points, and Eric Griffin had 16 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes before fouling out with 1:25 to play.
