UNC Asheville pulls away from High Point 90-70

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — J.P. Primm led five players in double figures with 30 points and UNC Asheville beat High Point 90-70 Thursday night.

Jaron Lane had 19, Matt Dickey 14, Quinard Jackson 12 and Chris Stephenson 10 for UNC Asheville.

Primm, who finished with a season-high five steals, moved into first place on UNC Asheville’s career steals list.

UNC Asheville (15-7, 10-1 Big South Conference) entered halftime with a 36-32 lead and opened the second half with a 21-12 run. Primm capped the run with two free throws to give UNC Asheville a 57-44 lead with 9:52 left to play.

High Point (7-13, 3-7) trimmed the lead to 11, 62-51, but Jackson converted a three-point play and Primm scored five straight points to put the Bulldogs back on top 70-51.

The Bulldogs shot 52.8 percent (28 of 53) overall and made 9 of 18 from deep.

Xavier Martin scored 14 for High Point.
