Evergreen’s Taylor wins Class 4A bowling district championship

Mountain View's Lanning takes 3A honors

Evergreen’s Morgan Taylor finished her day by bowling games of 232 and 208 to finish with a three-game total of 617 and edge out teammate Stacy Dettling for the Class 4A girls bowling district title.

Wylicia Faley bowled a 574 series to place sixth overall and lead the Battle Ground girls to the district title team with a team total of 4060. Evergreen was second at 3929. Both teams will advance to next week’s state championships in University Place.

Dettling finished her day strong with a 258 game, the highest of the tournament, but she still fell seven pins short of Taylor.

Union’s Parker Bonife placed third at 604 to clinch a berth to state. All bowlers from Battle Ground and Evergreen will advance to state. Also advancing as individuals were Heritage’s Katelin Burkhart (fifth, 596), Amanda Van Meter (eighth, 561) and Heather Lacey (10th, 539).

3A bowling — Mountain View’s Alex Lanning bowled games of 216 and 235 to claim the 3A/2A district title.

Lanning’s three-game total of 621 outdistanced Kelso’s Erika Gustin at 606.

Mark Morris won the team title, with Kelso and Black Hills of Tumwater also earning team berths. Mountain View placed fourth at 3455, 13 pins behind Black Hills.

Other locals to earn individual berths to state were Prairie’s Tessa Friason (ninth, 543), Camas’ Porsche Chartrand (10th, 538) and Dakota Varela of Hudson’s Bay (15th, 513).
