Stony Brook defeats Boston University 66-57

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Bryan Dougher scored 20 points and Stony Brook withstood a second-half rally by Boston University to win 66-57 on Friday night and claim sole possession of first place in the America East Conference.

The Terriers rallied from a 47-34 deficit with a 17-0 run to lead 51-47 after a 3-pointer by Travis Robinson with 6:04 to play. But Stony Brook hit 12 of 16 free throws in the final 5:46 while making only three field goals in that span.

Stony Brook (13-7, 8-1), which shot 19 of 28 from the free-throw line, snapped the Terriers’ seven-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Seawolves won for the 10th consecutive time at home.

The Seawolves outrebounded the Terriers 33-25 and held a 26-16 advantage in the paint.

Darryl Partin scored 21 points for the Terriers (11-12, 7-2), who saw their five-game winning streak in the series come to an end.
