Late Austin Peay surge tops Tennessee-Martin 92-73

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — John Fraley recorded a double-double as Austin Peay break open a tight game with a 19-3 closing run to beat Tennessee-Martin 92-73 Saturday night in Ohio Valley Conference play.

Fraley had 23 points and 13 rebounds and got lots of help from teammates TyShwan Edmondson (22 points), Josh Terry (16) and Melvin Baker (12). Up 40-37 at halftime, the Governors (9-14, 6-4) scored the first eight points of the second half.

After Dave Smith’s layup with 5:42 left, Tennessee-Martin (3-20, 0-10) trailed just 73-70. Then Austin Peay began its late surge.

Down the stretch, the Skyhawks hit only one of their last 11 shots from the floor. Mike Liabo, who led Tennessee-Martin with 18 points, was 0-for-5 from the floor with two turnovers as Austin Peay pulled away.

The Governors made 28 of 39 foul shots. Tennessee-Martin was 5 for 11. Troy King scored 15 points for the Skyhawks.
