Louisiana-Monroe defeats Louisiana-Lafayette 67-60

MONROE, La. (AP) — Josh Brown scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half as Louisiana-Lafayette defeated Louisiana-Monroe 67-60 Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference game.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (12-11, 6-3) led 49-35 with 10:11 remaining after a 13-0 run.

The Warhawks (2-20, 1-8), with Fred Brown scoring 16 of his 24 points in the second half, chipped away and trailed 61-57 with 1:05 to go, but Raymone Andrews answered with a layup, and Darshawn McClellan and Bryant Mbamalu each added two free throws for Louisiana-Lafayette.

McClellan also won the statistical battle with his brother Steven in their first collegiate meeting. Darshawn McClellan, a senior forward who came in averaging 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds, had 13 points and four rebounds against the Warhawks. Steven McClellan, a sophomore center who was averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds, had no points and one rebound.

Charles Winborne scored 18 points for Louisiana-Monroe.
