Mercer beats Florida Gulf Coast 75-66

MACON, Ga. (AP) — Langston Hall’s 20 points led four players in double-figures and Mercer beat Florida Gulf Coast 75-66 Monday night for its sixth straight win.

Jakob Gollon, Daniel Coursey, and Chris Smith had 10 apiece for Mercer.

Mercer (17-7, 9-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) took its first lead of the game, 12-10, with 11:48 left in the first half and held at least a four point lead the remainder of the period.

Florida Gulf Coast (11-11, 6-5) cut the deficit to 43-42 in the second half but Coursey made two straight layups to spark a 14-1 run and put Mercer ahead for good at 57-43.

The Bears shot 59 percent (27 of 46) from the field, and 50 percent (11 of 22) from 3-point range, while holding the Eagles to 37 percent (22 of 59).

Sherwood Brown recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles as Florida Gulf Coast outrebounded Mercer 35-27.
