HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — The New York Red Bulls have acquired the rights to defender Wilman Conde from the Chicago Fire in exchange for allocation money.

The Red Bulls announced, after the trade on Monday, that they had signed Conde.

Conde played most recently with Atlas de Guadalajara of the First Division in Mexico, where he made 13 appearances and scored two goals. Prior to joining Atlas, he was a major contributor to the Chicago Fire from 2007-10, starting 66 games. He helped the team to three straight postseason appearances from 2007-09 and was named to the MLS All-Star team twice.

The 29-year-old Colombian came to the MLS from Millonarios in his home country.
