SEATTLE (AP) — A police SWAT team has surrounded a north Seattle apartment building as negotiators attempt to talk with a man who threatened a cab driver with a gun.

KOMO reports the driver had given the man’s girlfriend a ride about 4 a.m. Tuesday, but she didn’t have any money so she left her coat and went inside to get the $37 fare.

The taxi driver says her boyfriend came out with a gun, instead of money, and took the coat.

The driver was not hurt.

Police have blocked streets around the apartment building near 140th and Aurora during the standoff.
