VANCOUVER — The Izzy’s restaurant at 7615 E. Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver has permanently closed, an employee at the chain’s other Clark County location in Hazel Dell has confirmed.

Reasons behind the Dec. 19 closure are unclear. Izzy’s is the second East Mill Plain Boulevard restaurant closure within a year. Owners of a nearby KFC restaurant closed the site in August, citing slow sales and difficult economic conditions.

The Mill Plain Izzy’s restaurant was launched in 1983 by franchisee Al Fortier. His company, Fortier Enterprises Inc., also launched Izzy’s franchises in Hazel Dell and Kelso, both of which are still open. The Izzy’s chain is headquartered in Albany, Ore. It operates 19 restaurants in Oregon and Washington.
