Talking Points: Taking our ball and going home

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

You know, you might be a jerk when a sports league would rather just suspend operations for an entire season than even consider working with you ever again.

Yep, that’s what the Women’s Professional Soccer announced Monday. The upcoming season will be scrapped because of a legal issue with a former team owner.

Dan Borislow, who owned the Tampa Bay franchise, was ousted from the league. But the fight continues in the courtrooms.

The WPS said: “Fine. We’re taking our ball and going home.”

WPS CEO Jennifer O’Sullivan said owners chose to cancel the season over possibly working with Borislow in the league again.

Just throwing this out there: Is Shaun White the best athlete in America?

As much as we believe LeBron James would be an incredible tight end in the NFL, he has yet to try.

Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback, but could he win a Cy Young as a pitcher in baseball? Doubtful.

Justin Verlander can throw a great pitch, but would he make a great point guard?

Shaun White has won gold medals in the Winter X Games and in the Winter Olympics, plus he dominates during the summer on his skateboard.

His performance the other night to cap the Winter X Games was legendary. He always seems to win, but he also always seems to get better.
