Letter: Sin clearly defined

Published:

In response to Susan Smith's June 25 letter, "Apply golden rule every day," it makes me sad that so many people completely miss the point. Being opposed to gay marriage is not bigotry, it is not being judgmental, nor is it bad behavior. It has nothing to do with love, kindness, mercy, etc. Gay marriage is a blatant disregard for the word of God. It is clearly stated in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, therefore, so is same-sex marriage. Read 1 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:9. Yes, Christ loves all mankind, but He does not condone sin. Being Christian means we are called upon to uphold the word of God, not condone or support behavior that God clearly says is wrong.
