LONDON (AP) — Britain has set a target of winning at least 48 medals across at least 12 sports at the London Olympics starting this month.

UK Sport says the host team is still aiming to finish among the top four, which has been the goal ever since the Beijing Games in 2008.

Britain won 47 medals across 11 sports in Beijing, finishing fourth behind China, the United States and Russia.

British Sports Minister Hugh Robertson said Wednesday that “the majority of people will judge the success of this event not on how smoothly the transport system runs but where we are in the medals table.”
