PHOENIX (AP) — The San Diego Padres have placed right-hander Andrew Cashner on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Brad Brach from Triple-A Tucson.

Cashner left his Tuesday night start after feeling a tightness in his right “lat” muscle, an injury diagnosed as a strain. He threw just 28 pitches in his third major league start of the season. Manager Bud Black said before Wednesday’s game that Ross Ohlendorf would take Cashner’s scheduled start Sunday at home against Cincinnati. Cashner, who hit 101 mph on the radar gun Tuesday, is 3-3 with a 3.44 ERA and has 45 strikeouts in 36 2-3 innings.

Brach was 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 10 appearances with Tucson.
