Fircrest — Fifteen students and a choreographer from Christian Youth Theater’s HYPE (High School Youth Pursuing Excellence) program conducted a June 18-22 musical theater day camp for 24 youth living at My Father’s House Community Shelter in Gresham, Ore. During the “Tween Idol” camp, based on an audition for the “American Idol” TV show, kids learned dance routines to the popular songs by Mylie Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Between songs, they learned the basics of acting and theater.
