So, here it was … the last day of June, a lovely cool and rainy night, and you’d think that my family would be able to have windows open to let all that fresh air into the house, and that we would be able to get a decent night’s sleep.
Well, think again folks … it was fireworks time.
In our area, just a couple blocks outside the city limits, we’re kept up until the wee hours starting from usually mid-June until far beyond July 4 because of the noise. That’s regardless of any of the so-called regulations, or the weather, or closed windows — and using earplugs doesn’t help a whole lot either.
When did the Fourth of July become something that lasts for over a month?
Why can’t we get it back to just the Fourth of July?
And, by the way, whatever happened to having just the good old-fashioned Fourth of July parades, without the long period of fireworks?
