Investigators identified two potential causes of an attic fire that damaged an empty west Hazel Dell house Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Evenson said an electrostatic air cleaner or a nail driven through electrical wiring in the attic caused the fire that significantly damaged the roof and attic. The interior was damaged by smoke and debris, including ceiling remnants and attic insulation.

County property records show the ranch-style house, built in 1958, is owned by Victor Von Fumetti Jr.
