MADRID (AP) — Serge Ibaka says Spain’s Olympic squad has the talent to match the favored U.S. team.
The Oklahoma City power forward says the American team “is like us, they also have players with a lot of talent. It’s a different team to the one from 2008.”
Ibaka made his comments Saturday during Spain’s preparations for the games.
He’ll be making his Olympic debut. Ibaka says the team is focusing on itself rather than its rivals because “it’s a long road to the final.”
Spain opens Group B play against China July 29.
London Olympics run from July 27 until Aug. 12.
