Letter: Fly our patriotic colors

The Columbian
Published: July 5, 2012, 5:00pm

Boom, boom, bang. It all started at 5 p.m. and on until around 10:30 p.m. or later.

They call them fireworks. I call a lot of them dynamite caps. It’s unpleasant and it’s plain disrespect for the neighbors, especially the animals.

There can be fun in this if people would go by the law on what they can use and what is legal. I am convinced what I hear mostly is illegal.

We can make all kinds of laws for the good of the people, but when you cannot enforce them, what good are they?

Even if a few are caught, what about the rest of the population that has to put up with it?

I have a great idea. Along with the legal purchase of fireworks, get an American flag for the front of your house and show your colors. I do, and there is never enough of them on display.
