Letter: Fireworks explode day and night

The Columbian
Published: July 7, 2012, 5:00pm

Ah yes. It’s that time of year again, when a young man’s fancy turns to, you guessed it, lighting fuses on cardboard contraptions containing gunpowder. Not in the dark, of course, when the colors and effects can be appreciated, but on a lazy Sunday afternoon when a neighbor is taking a nap after a morning of yardwork.

Not all of the explosions are of the showery, sparkle variety. Most are, in fact, the very loud, the cats-jus-ran-under-the-bed type of explosion. As of this writing, there is the small firecracker type explosion nearby.

Unfortunately for the individual setting them off, he or she has no sense of rhythm or adventure as they light one every 30 seconds or so.

To say the least, that is very boring.
