YAKIMA (AP) — Yakima County searchers have found a 55-year-old Seattle doctor who had been missing on Mount Adams since a weekend hiking trip. He’s reported to be tired but in good condition.

Seattle television stations identified him as cardiologist Peter Baciewicz.

County Search and Rescue spokeswoman Sharon Fisher says the doctor was found about 6 p.m. Tuesday near Morrison Creek on the southwest side of the 12,276-foot mountain. He was found at about the 4,500-foot level. She says some of the trails in that area are still covered in snow.

Fisher says the hiker had a few bumps and bruises but walked out with the search team.

He had texted several friends earlier Tuesday, indicating he had made a wrong turn.

Sgt. George Town said earlier that the doctor and a friend went hiking Sunday in an area of the mountain known as the “Lunch Counter.” They separated, planning to ski down later and meet back at their car but only the friend had returned by late Sunday afternoon. He called for help Sunday evening.
