Former Fort teacher gets high honors

Meadow Homes — Nathan Shields, who taught at Fort Vancouver High School for six years, was among nearly 100 junior high and high school teachers to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching at a White House ceremony on June 29. PAEMST is the nation's highest recognition of K-12 math and science teachers in the United States. Shields and his family are in the process of moving from Saipan in the Northern Marianas islands to Port Angeles.
