LONDON (AP) — The IOC says Saudi Arabia will send two female athletes to the London Olympics, ending the ultraconservative Muslim country’s record of fielding only all-male teams at the games.

The International Olympic Committee says the athletes will compete in judo and track and field.

They are Wodjan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani in judo and 800-meter runner Sarah Attar.

IOC President Jacques Rogge says “this is very positive news” that means every national Olympic committee competing in London will be represented by women.
