Mandy Lathim, 18, remained in critical condition Wednesday night at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, Calif., from injuries suffered in a July 3 automobile accident.

The teen was student vice president at Mountain View High School, team captain of the gymnastics team, a youth gymnastics coach at Naydenov Gymnastics and a homeless shelter volunteer. She was set to attend Western Washington University in Bellingham this fall.

To help pay for Lathim’s medical bills, Sherri Alexander, Mountain View High School booster associate, has organized multiple fundraising events. There will be a rummage sale and bake sale at 9 a.m. Friday at 14514 S.E. Ninth St. A car wash will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday at Burgerville at 11704 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. Local restaurants are also donating a portion of their proceeds to Lathim’s recovery efforts. Naydenov has set up a PayPal direct deposit donation form on its website and donations can also be made at any area Columbia Credit Union.

Anyone wanting to volunteer at future efforts can reach Sherri Alexander at 360-281-1581 and join the Pray for Mandy Lathim Facebook page.
