Brittney Williams, 17, of Woodland has been selected to serve as the 2013 Vancouver Rodeo queen.

Katelyn Socolofsky, 16, of Battle Ground is the runner-up.

Williams is a Woodland High School student who attends Clark College through the Running Start dual-credit program and a member of the Trot To The Top 4-H Club. Her parents are Matt and Kimberly Williams.

Williams will be crowned in February 2013. As queen, Williams serves as rodeo ambassador to promote rodeo as family entertainment and advocate for animal wellness at parades, chamber of commerce events and schools.

She aspires to be a veterinarian and plans to study animal sciences at Washington State University in Pullman.

A panel of three judges selected Williams late Saturday out of six contestants. The panel included a former rodeo queen and representatives from the Vancouver Rodeo Committee and the Clark County Saddle Club.

Next year marks the 43rd year of the Vancouver Rodeo.
