Letter: Diversify sources of employment

I read with interest the annual listing of the top employers in Clark County. It was no surprise that again among the top five employers in our county were two school districts and the county government. This is a sign that, if we did not have school districts, county and city government, our payroll in this county would be a sad thing to report every year.
I don't have statistics on other counties of similar size around the nation, but I suspect I would likely find that most of those counties do not list two school districts and county government among their top payrolls for their area. It is clear to me that public employment is carrying too much of our job base and this needs to be worked on by all of us.
