Letter: Compromise shown by city council

The Columbian
Published: July 16, 2012, 5:00pm

This Fourth of July I think I found one of the causes behind Congress’ lack of compromising. One only needs to read the letters to the editor in The Columbian. In particular, the issue of fireworks makes it clear.

On one side you have those who want all fireworks banned forever. On the other side you have those who want all types of fireworks at any time. No compromise noted by either side.

Fortunately we have a Vancouver City Council that understands compromise and has reached, in my opinion, a fair compromise, one that needs no further compromise as they showed this year.

If “we the people” can’t compromise on issues, then how can we expect the people “we elect” to compromise.
