LOS ANGELES (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the decision says free agent forward Antawn Jamison will sign a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the Lakers hadn’t announced the move.

The 36-year-old Jamison will sign for the veteran’s minimum salary, bolstering the Lakers’ bench with scoring and veteran leadership. Jamison also will be reunited with coach Mike Brown, who was in charge of the Cavaliers when Jamison was traded to Cleveland during the 2009-10 season.

The Lakers are the fifth NBA team for Jamison, who will begin his 15th pro season in the fall. He is a longtime prolific scorer who averaged 17.2 points for the Cavs last season despite shooting a career-low 40.3 percent.
