UPDATE (12:30 p.m.) — The Oregon Department of Transportation has canceled this weekend’s work and closures due to weather. The project will resume next week, weather permitting. Original story:

Headed to Portland late tonight, or over the weekend? Watch for a detour.

Interstate 5 through downtown Portland will be closed beginning tonight through 5 a.m. Monday, Oregon Department of Transportation officials say. Motorists can detour around the closure on Interstate 405.

The closure is maintenance-related and will continue in some for on weekends through Aug. 20.

Though I-405 is an option, traffic delays are expected, according to ODOT.

Motorists wanting to take Interstate 84 eastbound from Interstate 5 southbound will need to take I-405 around downtown and then use I-5 north.

The Rose Quarter offramp will remain open to local traffic.
