Chance of rain for Olympics opening ceremony

LONDON (AP) -- Bring an umbrella -- and maybe have sunscreen as well.
British meteorologists on Monday released the forecast for the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday, saying they are certain things will be -- well, uncertain. There is a chance of rain for Friday's big event, frustrating the hopes of Londoners who thought that the warm weather predicted this week might last through the signature moment of the July 27-Aug. 12 games.
Forecaster Barry Gromett of Britain's Met Office broke the bad news: "Showers can be a bit hit and miss, I'm afraid."
The five-day forecast is considered the first that offers a close chance of accuracy. But the forecast is almost immaterial for the show itself: director Danny Boyle has planned for fake rain in case the heavens fail to cooperate.
