IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have signed first-round draft pick Morris Claiborne to a four-year contract.

Claiborne signed the deal Monday, and the cornerback will be able to practice when rookies and selected veterans have three days of workouts at Valley Ranch starting Wednesday before the full training camp in California.

While the Cowboys didn’t release contract details, a story on the team’s website said the deal was worth $16.4 million, including a $10.3 million signing bonus.

Dallas traded up eight spots and lost its second-round draft pick in April to get Claiborne, the All-America cornerback from LSU.

Claiborne, expected to start opposite Brandon Carr, missed offseason workouts because of surgery before the draft to repair ligament damage in his left wrist.
