Letter: Boy Scouts made right decision

The Columbian
Published: July 23, 2012, 5:00pm

I read the July 18 Columbian story “Boy Scouts reaffirm: Gays unwelcome as members, leaders” about the Boy Scouts of America denying gays into their groups. I approve.

Why don’t the gays organize the Gay Scouts of America and try to develop their values in such troops rather than try to invade an organization that has for decades been for the boys of regular gender?

I was a Boy Scout in the 1930s and was inspired for the values that most Americans had. If it had been a group with gays in it my parents would not have let me join. It was sponsored by a Methodist Church in Nampa, Idaho.
