Vancouver Waterfront — Public areas near the Water Resources Education Center, Marine Park and all along the Waterfront Renaissance Trail are looking tidier. That’s thanks to an army of community volunteers from the Tidewater Cove Condo Association and the Riverview and Old Evergreen Highway neighborhood associations. “Their weed-clearing effort, spearheaded by local resident and community volunteer Steve Smith, has built momentum over the past few weeks, growing from one volunteer to many lending helping hands on a weekly basis,” said city volunteer coordinator Hailey Heath. The volunteers have removed weeds, cleaned interpretive signs, added geraniums and removed moss and trash.
