MILWAUKEE (AP) — Brewers reliever Tyler Thornburg left Milwaukee’s game against the Washington Nationals with what appeared to be a physical issue in the eighth inning Thursday night.

The rookie right-hander had a 3-2 count on Roger Bernadina when manager Ron Roenicke and a team trainer went to the mound. After conferring for about a minute, Thornburg walked off the mound into the dugout and was replaced by Kameron Loe.

Loe promptly struck out Bernadina.

There was no immediate word from the Brewers as to why Thornburg was removed.

Thornburg pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out two.

The Brewers were trailing 8-0 at the time.

Thornburg has no record and a 5.79 ERA in five games.
