INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Motor Speedway workers are becoming experts in the quick change.

For the first time in more than a century of racing at the historic track, automobile races will be held on the road course and the oval course during the same weekend. Four races are scheduled to be run over the next three days — with the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series running on the traditional 2.5-mile oval and the Grand-Am Series running two races on Indy’s road course.

Speedway CEO Jeff Belskus says the goal was to complete the changeover in 12 hours. This week, Belskus says he was told it could be done in 10 hours.

With so much action, Belskus is urging fans to park somewhere other than the crowded infield on Friday and Saturday.
