Letter: Foreign aid careless for our nation

The Columbian

The Constitution of the United States of America defines treason, in part, as giving aid and comfort to our enemies. Our government gives aid to most of the countries of the world — excluding our best friends Canada, Western Europe, and Australia. (For an interactive map, go to http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/02/foreignaid.html.)

Citizens have been complaining about this practice since I was a child, at least 60 years, but our politicians are gutless to end it. Foreign aid does not make a major impact on our budget; however, it damages our national integrity. Citizens need to remove from office all politicians who ignore the Constitution, who can’t tell our enemies from our friends, and who are careless about safeguarding our nation.
