The right wing vitriol directed toward our president, from the beginning of his administration, astounds me but doesn’t surprise me. I like to remind my conservative peers that it is they, in fact, who are responsible for the landslide victory of President Obama.
It’s their unapologetic and unwavering support of George W. Bush for eight miserable and destructive years that drove this exhausted country away from any candidate suffixed with an “R.”
From that self-inflicted moment, the Republican leadership proclaimed it their only goal to see President Obama defeated. That seemed alarming considering the many goals facing Congress. The Republicans have sacrificed the good of the country by opposing everything President Obama stands for, even things the Republicans previously advocated, lest our president get any credit for improving our country.
Now Republicans want to weasel their way back in to the presidency. They attack the Affordable Health Care Act, even though it was a conservative idea. (The Heritage Foundation, 1989.) The Republicans’ own candidate enacted it at a state level. How hypocritical can they possibly be? And it was one of Obama’s election promises, surprise!
