The Vancouver Fire Department was awarded an $80,000 grant for an interactive mobile trailer that will help educate the public on preventing house fires, according to a city news release.
The FEMA-funded fire and life safety trailer will show what happens in kitchen and bedroom fire scenarios. Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said that since data show most fires occur in residential, as opposed to commercial, properties, the grant will better inform people and change behaviors in the home.
