LONDON (AP) — Kohei Uchimura has little time to talk silver. Sure, Japan jumped onto the Olympic podium for second place in the team competition after judges adjusted his pommel horse score.

Yet the three-time reigning world champion in all-around is only missing one thing to further solidify his spot among the best male gymnasts ever, if not the greatest of all time: a gold medal hanging around his neck.

Uchimura gets his chance at the elusive prize in the men’s all-around competition Wednesday at O2 Arena — and he is counting on cleaning up uncharacteristic mistakes in all six of his routines to pull it off.

At 23, Uchimura has already been a gymnast for 20 years and owns a long list of international accomplishments. For one, he’s the first male gymnast to win three consecutive world crowns in the all-around competition.
