LONDON (AP) — Five days after bearing the American flag at the opening ceremony, fencer Mariel Zagunis is looking for her second personal highlight of the Olympics at the women’s individual saber on Wednesday.

Zagunis is seeking a third straight gold medal in the sport, winning both events since women’s saber debuted at the 2004 Games in Athens. She also took bronze with the American team in Beijing four years ago.

World champion Sophya Velikaya of Russia will be among Zagunis’ main challengers.

Also Wednesday, top-ranked Nikolai Novosjolov of Estonia and world champion Paolo Pizzo of Italy are gold favorites in the men’s individual epee.
