Motorist found dead
A Vancouver man was found dead Friday night after his car went off Northeast 117th Avenue just south of Padden Parkway, according to the WSP.
Douglas J. Mattson, 52, was driving a taxicab south on Northeast 117th, which is also state Highway 503, at about 9:40 p.m. when the car went off the road and came to a stop against a chain link fence with little damage, said WSP Trooper Ryan Tanner.
Tanner said emergency crews responding to the incident performed CPR on Mattson but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a state patrol news release, he had a heart attack and lost consciousness behind the wheel before crashing.
