Toutle man falls to death in Gifford Pinchot
Sunday, June 3, 2012
Cowlitz County authorities say a 52-year-old Toutle man apparently fell to his death from a high bridge in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest after taking photos of the remote scenery near Woodland.
Investigators found Lance Chandler’s badly damaged camera near his body Saturday.
The county coroner’s office is expected to perform an autopsy.
The death investigation followed a call to the sheriff’s office by a U.S. Forest Service employee, who reported that an abandoned vehicle had been parked for a few days on a state Highway 503 bridge between Woodland and Cougar.
