ALOHA, Ore. (AP) — The Washington County sheriff’s office has identified a 52-year-old Aloha, Ore., man fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy.

Sgt. Bob Ray says Robert Kimball Fox came out of his home Sunday afternoon carrying a loaded high-power rifle as deputies responded to a disturbance report. Ray says Fox pointed the rifle “in the direction of the deputies in a threatening manner” and was shot once.

The deputy has been placed on leave during an investigation by the Washington County Major Crimes Team. The team is led by the district attorney’s office and includes detectives from several police agencies.

Aloha is west of Portland.
