Letter: Free market frees up liquor prices

I just got back from grocery shopping. Stores now have hard liquor, but get ready for sticker shock. I compared a fifth of Yukon Jack for which I used to pay $19.95. Now it is $24.99. Yes, it is currently on sale for $19.99 but that is before tax. Taxes of $6.75 brings the regular price to $31.74. Pricing may not include the fees of more than 25 percent in taxes. I'm glad I quit drinking. I can see how busy the Oregon state liquor store on Hayden Island will be.
