The Portland Timbers have traded forward Jorge Perlaza to the Philadelphia Union in exchange for Danny Mwanga. The Timbers announced the move on their website this morning.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Mwanga played college soccer at Oregon State University and prep soccer at Portland’s Jefferson High School.
“Jorge has been nothing but first class for this organization, a quality person both on and off the field. We wish him all the best,” said head coach John Spencer.
The Timbers most recently lost 1-0 last week to Cal FC — a group of amateur players from Southern California — in the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
