LOS ANGELES (AP) — A friend who witnessed a vicious attack on a Giants fan at Dodgers Stadium last year says he threw his body over the man’s head to help stop a raging assailant.
Corey Maciel testified at a preliminary hearing Wednesday for two men charged with the attack. Marvin Norwood and Louie Sanchez face charges of mayhem, assault and battery, and inflicting great bodily injury.
Maciel is a paramedic who accompanied Bryan Stow to the opening day game from Northern California.
He described a hostile atmosphere in which Dodgers fans threw food at them and cursed during the game. He says when they left, a Dodgers fan ran at Stow and punched his head.
Maciel says Stow fell unconcious, cracking his head on cement, then was kicked in the head and torso.
